Safe driving program launched
• A new driving program aimed at teenagers and their parents was recently
launched in Hamilton. The Ontario
Neurotrauma Foundation provided funding for the development of the program,
which involves a "safe-driving contract" to be signed by teenagers
and their parents. Once the contract is signed, drivers display a decal with
a toll-free number on their car so others can comment on driving behaviour.
The program has the support of Health Canada
and police and medical associations across North America.
It is designed to reduce the risk of car accidents involving adolescents.
Information is available at http://www.ipromiseprogram.com.
