Hi Gary,

Thank you for your email.

As you know I spend much of my time dealing with the victims of car crashes and their families. Each crash affects not just the injured persons, but literally hundreds of others.

It is a well-documented fact that the risk of being involved in a serious crash for a young driver is greatly increased by the presence of peer passengers in the car. This clearly indicates that behaviour behind the wheel is a key factor in serious and fatal crashes.

The I Promise Program seems to provide a way for young people to responsibly manage their own actions. It approaches them as partners in this and treats them as adults. I believe that this can only be a good thing.

I wish you all the best with the program and look forward to hearing your results when they are available. Hopefully it will have a significant positive affect. I for one am tired of telling parents that their child has been in a crash and is going to die.
