Re: I PROMISE Program

Dear Mr. Direnfeld:

After careful review of the above referenced program, it is my personal opinion that this program is a necessity for our teen's safety.

With the rapid population growth, our roads are dangerously congested and as adults; parents; and drivers we owe it to each other to be kept informed of what our novice teen drivers are doing. The program "I Promise" will help do just that.

If we take a moment to think back of our teen years and remember the carefree, infallible, joyous emotions of finally reaching adulthood! A DRIVERS LICENSE, FREEDOM. The novice teen driver today has those same feelings but in a much different society. As little as 10 years ago the number of vehicles on the roads was considerably less than that of today. Unfortunately, today's chances of a teen surviving to the age of 25 without an automobile crash is very slim.

With over 6,000 teen deaths per year in the United States alone we need to depend on each other to decrease that number and I believe that the "I Promise" program can help.

I am an activist for the Graduated Drivers License and have successfully had the program passed in the state of New Jersey and am currently pursuing the GDL nationally. The "I Promise" program will be add to my endeavors.

Respectfully,

Barbara Ferry
