Mr. Gary Direnfeld, Executive Director

I Promise Program

20 Suter Crescent,

Dundas, Ontario Canada  L9H 6R5

Dear Mr. Direnfeld,

This will confirm that the Brockville Police Service supports the I Promise
Program.   Brockville, the City of the 1000 Islands, is a World Health
Organization, "Designated Safe Community", the 1st in Ontario, 2nd in
Canada and 4th in North America .

We fully recognize that a wide range of proactive programs are key to
reducing incidents contributing to preventable injuries and death.

When supported by a sustained traffic management philosophy with rigorous
enforcement, a high profile, interactive community safety program such as "I
Promise" can be instrumental and can contribute to a formula for success.

The Brockville Police Service is pleased to participate in a program that
encourages parents and their youth to discuss responsibility, accountability
and a shared commitment, both individually and collectively, as Partners
for a "Safe and Healthy Community".

Youth may only represent 20% of our population, but they are fully 100% of
our future.  Every effort must be made to include their participation in a
range of solutions designed to reduce incidents of aggressive, impaired and
other unsafe driving habits.

Yours truly,

Chief Barry V. King,

Brockville Police Service
